Research on horse and camel milk
For some children and adults, cow’s milk can cause an allergic reaction. An alternative is horse or camel milk (niche milk), which may offer a safe solution. However, scientific research is needed for a major breakthrough. The Jeroen Bosch Hospital in Den Bosch, one of the Fhealinc partners, has picked up the gauntlet.
The first step is to submit the research protocol for medical/ethical verification. Once approval has been obtained, 20 patients with proven cow's milk allergy will participate in a challenge test. This test is needed to see whether patients can tolerate niche milk. If they are unaffected by the niche milk, then they will stop using it to determine whether there are any long-term allergic developments.
If niche milk turns out to be suitable for them, there are huge business prospects and opportunities for supply chain development. Businesses can help organizations with their knowledge to develop new sector-oriented products and/or services that fit the problems and needs of the market for cow's milk allergy. A part of this project includes exploring and developing cooperation with relevant parties. There will be an evaluation of the extent to which companies are willing to show commitment to supply chain development.
Based on the results of this project, the current sales potential of companies producing horse and camel milk is a good foundation for the development of future business perspective.
