Plantlab

"If you can dream it, you can do it." (Walt Disney).

PlantLab is working hard on its dream:

If it was up to PlantLab, part of the food production will take place in the city in the future through very small to very large plantations; in the middle of a supermarket, or a greengrocer growing its own products, or a city gardener who supplies fresh herbs to restaurants. Lettuce, beans, cauliflower and tomatoes are produced by completely regulated Plant Production Units, where the vegetables think they are in Plants Paradise, growing underneath blue, red and - invisible to the human eye - far-red LED light.

Where demand is high, vegetables will be produced and harvested at exactly the right time. There will be no shortages and no surpluses. With a combination of the latest techniques and ideas about plant breeding, PlantLab will create a revolution in cultures.

In the R&D Lab in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, four engineers developed this new way of growing and marketed it, enabling vertical gardening with LED lighting and the latest climate control techniques to be deployed on a small scale wherever demand exists. This is more efficient and more durable than conventional cultivation methods without using pesticides, with a 90% decrease in water usage and a more favorable overall carbon footprint. The ultimate goal is a world where access to a wholesome daily diet is available to everyone, grown “right around the corner” by passionate urban farmers.
